Notes
The "Social Affairs" department of the Department of Labor and Social Affairs of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer provides benefits and assistance to people who find themselves in an emergency situation that they cannot cope with on their own and are dependent on the help of the community.
The range of services offered by the Social Services department includes
Granting of benefits in accordance with the Twelfth Social Code (SGB XII)
People who have reached the age of 65 or who have reached the age of 18 and are permanently fully incapacitated for work receive basic income support in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity. People who are unable to support themselves from their own income and assets or from the income and assets of their partner are entitled to benefits.
Other benefits under the Twelfth Social Security Code include assistance with living expenses, assistance with health, integration assistance for disabled people, assistance with care, funeral costs, assistance to overcome particular social difficulties and assistance in other life situations.
Housing benefit
Tenants can receive housing benefit and owners can receive an encumbrance allowance if their rent or encumbrance exceeds the household's economic capacity. Whether and how much housing benefit is granted depends on how many family members belong to the household, how high the total income is and how high the eligible rent or burden is.
Advance on maintenance
As special assistance for single parents, the Maintenance Advance Act (Unterhaltsvorschussgesetz - UVG) uses public funds to secure part of the minimum maintenance for children who do not receive maintenance from the other parent. Advance maintenance payments are granted up to the age of 18 if the other requirements are met.
Asylum seekers
Foreigners who actually reside in Germany and meet the requirements of the law are entitled to benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. These are in particular persons,
- who have a residence permit to carry out the asylum procedure,
- who have a tolerated stay after their asylum application has been rejected due to actual obstacles to deportation.
- who have a residence permit or residence authorization for humanitarian reasons.
Benefits under the Education and Participation Act
The benefits of the education and participation package are intended to enable children, teenagers and young adults to take part in various activities at school and in their free time.
Collection of maintenance
For recipients of benefits under SGB II, SGB XII and the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act, an examination, determination and enforcement of the maintenance claims to be given priority is carried out.
