Help for blind and visually impaired people
Service description
Blind people living in North Rhine-Westphalia can apply for a blind person's allowance regardless of their income and assets. The Rhineland Regional Association provides information on the current amount of the allowance.
The amount of the allowance for the blind is reduced if, for example, a benefit is received from the long-term care insurance fund, private long-term care insurance or an allowance for home care, day care, night care or short-term care.
As the amount of the blind person's allowance is reduced on reaching the age of 60, a supplementary blind person's allowance can be applied for. However, this benefit is only paid if certain income and asset limits are not exceeded.
The allowance for the blind, assistance for the blind and assistance for severely visually impaired people are paid by the Rhineland Regional Association.
Further information
The application is processed exclusively by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland.
To obtain the application form and the attachment for the ophthalmologist's certificate, you can contact the above-mentioned contact persons in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer. Applications are only accepted by appointment.
