Planning to move?
Please submit your electricity contract on time
If you're moving, you should register or cancel your electricity service well in advance. Retroactive changes are no longer possible.
This means:
You cannot retroactively change a registration or deregistration to a date that has already passed. Therefore, please notify us before you move in or out.
This will help you avoid unnecessary costs, follow-up inquiries, or delays in assigning the electricity contract.
A Brief Summary of the Most Important Points
Deadlines for Moving
Signing Up for a New Electricity Contract
- A signed electricity supply contract is required
- Submit the order no later than 2 business days before the start of delivery
- Ideally, no later than 1 hour before the office closes
- Retroactive registrations are not permitted
Cancellation of Existing Electricity Contract
- Please give as much notice as possible—preferably several days in advance—when moving out
- We must complete the technical deregistration at least 24 hours before you move out.
- Retroactive cancellations are not possible
Meter Readings
- Report the meter readings for the old and new service locations
- no later than 14 days after the move
By the way
The power supply to the point of use generally remains uninterrupted. Registering or deregistering does not usually result in a power outage.

Why is it important to report incidents promptly?
Starting in June 2025, new technical requirements for the electricity market will take effect nationwide. As a result, registrations, deregistrations, and changes of suppliers must be processed much more quickly than before.
Retroactive changes are therefore no longer possible.
For customers, this means above all that they must report moves well in advance.
Important: Contract terms remain in effect
The new policy applies to the technical processing of sign-ups and cancellations. The agreed-upon contract terms and notice periods for your electricity contract remain in effect. This applies in particular to switching providers within the same apartment or house.
Here's an example: If you want to switch electricity providers in your current apartment, the notice periods specified in your existing contract will still apply.
What do I need to know when moving in?
If you're moving into a new apartment or house, we'll need a signed electricity service agreement to set up service.
Please send us the fully completed and signed order as soon as possible.
To ensure that your registration can be processed in a timely manner, we should receive your order no later than two business days before the desired start date of delivery, during business hours.
You can find the meter number right on the electricity meter or, often, in documents provided by the landlord or previous tenant.
Our tip:
You can often ask the landlord, seller, or previous tenant for the meter number even before you receive the keys. This often allows you to start preparing your utility registration early. If registration is submitted too late, service cannot be retroactively activated as of the move-in date. This may result in, among other things:
- Questions regarding the assignment,
- Delays in processing
- or a temporary supply from the designated primary provider.
What do I need to know when moving out?
Please let us know about your move-out several days in advance, if possible, so that we can process the technical disconnection in a timely manner.
If you plan to move out over the weekend, please let us know by Thursday during business hours, if possible.
If you notify us too late, the contract cannot be terminated retroactively. As a result, electricity usage at your old address may continue to be billed to you even though you have already moved out.
Therefore, please record the meter reading right when you take over the apartment.
Report Meter Readings
The meter readings for the old and new service locations must be reported no later than 14 days after the move.
Please record the meter readings as soon as possible, preferably when the keys are handed over or when you move in.
Note:
If a smart meter is already installed at the point of consumption, the meter reading automatically transmitted to the grid operator can be used for registration. These values are binding for all energy suppliers. How can I cancel my registration?
You can cancel your registration informally by phone, in writing, or by email.
Please provide us with the following information, if possible:
- Customer Number (for unique identification)
- previous consumption point
- Move-out Date
- Meter readings at move-out (may be submitted within 14 days after the keys have been returned)
Important:
As explained earlier, we should receive your cancellation notice several days before you move out, if possible, so that we can process the technical cancellation in a timely manner. What information is required to register?
To sign up, we need a signed electricity supply contract.
The following information is required for the order:
- Name and Address
- new consumption point
- Move-in Date
- Meter Number
- Meter reading (may be submitted within 14 days after the keys are handed over)
- Contact Information for Inquiries
- If possible, include the MaLo ID as well
Important:
As explained earlier, we must receive the fully completed and signed order form no later than two business days before the desired start of delivery, during business hours. What is the MaLo ID?
The MaLo-ID (“Market Location Identification Number”) is a unique number assigned to a consumption point or electricity meter. Each electricity meter has its own MaLo-ID. It helps to uniquely identify the correct consumption point—especially in apartment buildings.
The MaLo ID is assigned by the relevant network operator.
You'll often find the number:
- on the most recent electricity bill for the meter in question
- or obtain them from the landlord, the previous tenant, the seller, or the utility provider
When registering, it is helpful to have the MaLo ID of the new electricity meter, if possible.
If you don't have the number, that's no problem. We'll be happy to help you identify the correct consumption point and, if necessary, coordinate the data with the relevant utility provider.
What happens if the report is submitted late?
It is no longer possible to register or deregister retroactively. This may result in:
- the electricity contract cannot begin on time,
- Usage at your old address will continue to be attributed to you
- or basic coverage applies temporarily.
Our tip
As soon as the date for moving in, moving out, or handing over the keys is set, you should register or cancel your electricity service as early as possible.
The sooner we receive the information, the more smoothly we can process it.
