This year's CITY CYCLING in the district of Kleve started on Monday, May 25, 2026. Under the motto "On two wheels to your destination - climate protection in the Kleve district", the aim is to cover as many everyday routes as possible by bike in a climate-friendly way by June 14. Over 4,000 participants in more than 450 teams have already registered across the district. Further participants are very welcome and can still register online: www.stadtradeln.de/kreis-kleve. There, interested parties can register as "kilometer collectors" either for the district of Kleve or for their home municipality. This year, all 16 towns and municipalities belonging to the district are once again taking part.
The administrative managers are also pedaling. They are organizing their now established relay ride. The mayors, District Administrator Christoph Gerwers and Brigitte Jansen, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Kreis Kleve, are promoting the campaign. The handover of two "relay bags" by Christoph Gerwers at the Conference of Chief Administrative Officers in Kerken marked the start of this year's tour. This year there will be two parallel relay tours: In the southern and northern districts, the mayors will cycle from their own municipality to the nearest one. They each have a typical regional gift in their luggage, which is handed over to the neighboring municipality and given away or raffled off to a STADTRADLER there.
Taking part is worthwhile in more ways than one: cycling is not only good for your health and protects the climate. The organizers are giving away great prizes to all participants.
