Anyone planning a vacation during the summer vacations should check their ID documents early. Due to the high demand before the vacations, longer production times at Bundesdruckerei and longer waiting times for appointments are to be expected.
The most important information at a glance:
- Check the validity of your passport and identity card.
- Also check your children's ID cards, as children's appearance changes quickly. If the photo is no longer clear, the document is invalid.

- Within the EU, a valid identity card is usually sufficient.
