NiersEnergie has once again been recognized as a TOP local electricity provider in 2026. The seal is awarded annually by the energy consumer portal to local and regional energy and water utilities. The evaluation considers various factors that influence consumers’ choice of provider.
It's not just the price that matters
The award is not based solely on the price of energy. The evaluation currently takes into account, among other factors, price and rate components, service, transparency, regional engagement, digitalization, the energy transition, and future-oriented topics. The performance of the participating utilities is assessed based on detailed criteria.
The award thus takes into account both areas that directly affect customers—such as prices, rates, and service—as well as other services provided by a utility.
Regional involvement is part of it
Regional engagement is also part of the evaluation. One example from NiersEnergie is the “Energy for Kevelaer” fund, which supports projects and purchases by clubs and organizations in Kevelaer. NiersEnergie underwent the certification process for 2026 and met the requirements. As a result, it is once again among this year’s top-rated local electricity providers.
