With the completion of Peter-Plümpe-Platz in the heart of Kevelaer, a key milestone in the development of the city center has been reached. After more than ten years, the implementation of the integrated action plan for Kevelaer's city center is now coming to an end. This means that the courtyard and façade program is also entering its final phase.
Subsidies for private owners - act now
For the last time, private property owners in the designated inner city development area have the opportunity to apply for grants to upgrade their buildings. Funding is available for measures such as façade design, unsealing and greening courtyards and garages, as well as work on exterior walls and roofs. Up to 50 percent of the eligible costs can be covered.
Implementation only possible until the end of 2026
All projects for which funding is still being applied for must be fully implemented and invoiced by December 31, 2026 at the latest. Realistic and rapid scheduling is therefore a prerequisite for approval. Interested citizens can continue to receive personal advice and support with their application at the city center management of the pilgrimage city of Kevelaer.
Significant contribution to the cityscape
Since 2018, over 35 projects have already been funded through the courtyard and façade program. The average funding amount was around 7,000 euros per project. This private commitment makes an important contribution to improving the cityscape and the residential environment and sustainably strengthens the attractiveness of Kevelaer's city center.
Mayor Dr. Dominik Pichler emphasizes the importance of the programme: "The many projects that have been implemented show how much can be achieved when the city and private owners pull together. The courtyard and façade program is a strong sign of personal initiative and a sense of responsibility - and a real opportunity to make our city centre vibrant and attractive in the long term."
