Information under the Freedom of Information Act
Service description
The Law on Freedom of Access to Information for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (IFG NRW) enables people to access all information held by a municipal administration or other authority. The aim is to make administrative decisions transparent for citizens.
Applications for access to information in accordance with the IFG NRW can be submitted to the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer in writing, verbally or in electronic form.
The application must be drafted in such a way that it is clear what information is being requested.
In some cases, access to information cannot be granted. For example, personal data may only be passed on with the consent of the person concerned. Business and trade secrets must also remain protected, as must ongoing administrative or administrative offense proceedings.
A request for access to information must be rejected in the following cases
- for the protection of public interests and law enforcement (Section 6 IFG NRW)
- to protect the official decision-making process (Section 7 IFG NRW)
- for the protection of trade and business secrets (§ 8 IFG NRW) and
- on the protection of personal data (Section 9 IFG NRW).
Which information may be passed on in individual cases will be checked when your request is received by the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer.

Costs
An administrative fee may be charged depending on the work involved. The amount of these fees is based on the administrative fee schedule for the North Rhine-Westphalia Freedom of Information Act (VerwGebO IFG NRW) and its attached fee schedule. The provision of verbal or simple written information is free of charge.
