Building regulations & monument protection
The Building Regulations and Monument Protection Department in Kevelaer has two important roles: It is the responsible lower building supervisory authority as well as the lower monument protection authority for the pilgrimage town.
As the lower building supervisory authority, we review and approve building applications, monitor building projects in the city, archive building files, process building encumbrances and handle appeals. Our focus is on ensuring compliance with building regulations and implementing building control measures. We also offer building advice to avoid potential errors and ensure a smooth approval process.
In our role as the Lower Monument Protection Authority, we research, protect and preserve cultural monuments in Kevelaer. We maintain a list of monuments, which lists all protected objects, and offer an advisory service for monument protection. Our tasks are regulated by the Monument Protection Act and, in addition to dealing with monument protection issues, also include supporting projects for the preservation of cultural heritage.
