Youth care and educational child and youth protection
Service description
Youth care includes youth work and the educational protection of children and young people. Youth work should be geared towards the interests and needs of children and young people. It should also involve children and young people. Youth work should be co-determined and co-designed by them. This also enables them to learn to take responsibility in society.
The aim of educational child and youth protection is to protect children and young people from dangers and harmful influences. Educational child and youth protection services such as information events, information material and the provision of various preventative measures are intended to enable children and young people, but also parents, to recognize dangers (addiction risks, dealing with media), for example, to react accordingly and to know where further help is available.
The areas of responsibility of youth care and educational child and youth protection in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer include
- Advice for full-time and voluntary employees in open youth work
- Advice and support for youth associations and youth clubs
- Advice and information on the Youth Protection Act
- Advice and information on the Youth Employment Protection Act
- Organizing events in cooperation with local schools
- Participation in and implementation of projects in the context of work with girls and boys
- Organization of events, e.g. carnival disco
- Youth group leader training
Advice on issuing and applying for certificates of good conduct. At its meeting on 08.05.2014, the Youth Welfare Committee of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer adopted the guidelines and the agreement to ensure the exclusion of persons with a relevant criminal record from activities in accordance with Section 72a of the German Social Code (SGB) Eighth Book (VIII): Child and Youth Welfare adopted. For clubs, sponsors and associations, the resolution means that the extended certificates of good conduct of full-time, part-time and voluntary workers can be inspected. In addition to children, young people and parents, the services are also aimed at professionals who work with and support children and young people.
