"Energy for Kevelaer" fund launches new funding round

The "Energy for Kevelaer" fund is entering the next round. Once again this year, the four fund providers NiersEnergie, Stadtwerke Kevelaer, BW Kevelaer and Bürgerenergie Schwarzbruch Nord are making a total of 50,000 euros available for charitable projects in Kevelaer. Around 160 clubs, associations, daycare centers and schools are currently receiving the tender documents. Applications can be submitted until Monday, April 13.

Since 2018, the income from wind energy has flowed directly back into the city in this way. Funding is provided for projects in the areas of sport, culture, education, youth and elderly care, environmental protection and nature conservation as well as the preservation of traditions. Projects that save energy, conserve resources or have a sustainable impact are particularly welcome.

Valuable association work

"Our associations do valuable work every day. They organize activities for children and young people, keep traditions alive and create places for people to meet. This commitment deserves support. The fund shows that renewable energies also make a concrete difference locally," says Mayor Dr. Dominik Pichler.

The financing is made up of voluntary contributions from the wind farm operators and contractually agreed funds. The operators of the two wind farms provide EUR 20,000 per year. A further 30,000 euros flow into the funding pot due to the contractual obligations to erect the wind turbines - 20,000 euros from Stadtwerke Kevelaer and 10,000 euros from NiersEnergie.

Wolfgang Toonen, Operations Manager of Stadtwerke Kevelaer and Managing Director of NiersEnergie, emphasizes: "The wind turbines in Kevelaer supply climate-friendly electricity - and they also make this funding possible. It is important to us that the added value remains here and that the people in our town benefit from it."

Carried together

Johannes Ermers adds for BW Kevelaer and Bürgerenergie Schwarzbruch Nord: "Renewable energies work best when they are jointly supported. With our commitment, we not only want to generate sustainable energy, but also promote sustainable structures in our region."

The application process is deliberately kept simple: An informal letter with a brief project description and cost breakdown is sufficient. Applications can be sent to Stadtwerke Kevelaer, "Energy for Kevelaer" fund, Kroatenstraße 125, by Monday, April 13. Measures already implemented in the current year can also be considered.
