New ADAC bike service station
in Kevelaer

ADAC Nordrhein has opened a new ADAC bike service station in Kevelaer. The 1.50 meter high repair station is located at Solegarten St. Jakob (Twistedener Straße 140) and is equipped with high-quality tools. Minor repairs to bicycles as well as baby carriages, skateboards and wheelchairs can be carried out directly. The bike service station can be used around the clock by anyone, regardless of ADAC membership.

"For the ADAC, mobility is more than just the car. Many people travel to work or in their leisure time by bike, pedelec or mountain bike. The Lower Rhine is a wonderful cycling region. We want cyclists to be mobile again quickly if something breaks down. That's why we are setting up bike service stations at special leisure locations, important cycle routes or junctions," explains Andrea Schmitz, Chairwoman of ADAC Nordrhein. For example, the right tire pressure can be restored with the foot air pump and a loose wheel can be tightened with the open-end wrench set. If repairs cannot be carried out on site, members can use the ADAC bicycle breakdown service, which has been part of all ADAC memberships since June 2022.

Well received

"I am very pleased that the ADAC has provided a service station so quickly and unbureaucratically here at the Solegarten, where many cycle tourists also pass by," emphasizes Dr. Dominik Pichler, Mayor of the city of Kevelaer. Wolfgang Toonen, Operations Manager of Stadtwerke, reports: "The bike service station has already been well received and is an enrichment for the city."

Since May 2024, ADAC Nordrhein has set up 40 bike service stations in its regional club area (administrative districts of Cologne and Düsseldorf) on frequently used cycle paths or special leisure locations. A further 8 locations are to be added by the end of 2025. There are also ADAC bike service stations in Geldern and Rees in the Kleve district.

Background: The ADAC bike service stations are manufactured at Caritas Betriebs- und Werkstätten GmbH in Eschweiler. The company Bike-Components from Würselen provides support in equipping them with tools.

Mobile two-wheeler test station: ADAC Nordrhein has been on the road in the Rhineland with a mobile two-wheeler test station since 2022, checking bicycles, pedelecs and e-bikes for safety and functionality. The mobility club's technical experts regularly take the vehicle to universities, schools, colleges, events and other public places. Since 2025, ADAC Nordrhein has also been offering bike checks in the eastern Ruhr region and the Lower Rhine with a second mobile test station.
