Free drinking water to combat
summer heat and plastic waste

The weather forecasts leave little doubt: summer 2025 will be hot. Warmer than average temperatures and longer dry spells are to be expected. This makes it all the more important to drink enough - preferably fresh tap water. Stadtwerke Kevelaer has been part of the nationwide "Refill Germany" initiative since last year and offers free drinking water refills. Anyone who has a reusable drinking bottle with them can have it filled with tap water during opening hours in the Stadtwerke building at Kroatenstraße 125. The entrance is marked with the official refill sticker.

Tap water for everyone - clean, affordable, climate-friendly

"Our drinking water stands for quality, sustainability and regionality. Refilling with us not only saves money, but also CO₂ and packaging waste," explains Wolfgang Toonen, Operations Manager at Stadtwerke Kevelaer. "Especially in the summer heat, the offer is an uncomplicated help - and a sensible contribution to environmental protection." Stadtwerke also operates two public drinking water fountains during the frost-free months: one at Kapellenplatz and another in the St. Jakob brine garden. There is also a drinking water dispenser in the information building there, which is accessible all year round.

 Participation desired

Anyone who would like to become a refill station themselves - for example as a business, practice or association - can contact Stadtwerke directly. "We are happy to support this and provide a refill sticker free of charge," says Melanie Hahn, contact person at Stadtwerke. "Just get in touch with us - all you need is a clean pipe, a little commitment and a good heart for the environment."
