The Council forms committees in which the majority of political decisions are discussed in advance. In some matters, the committees can also make final decisions.
The Social Committee of the Council of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer is responsible for all social matters and deals with issues of social cohesion. It deals with the following matters, among others: Promoting inclusion and integration in all areas of society, measures to combat poverty, gender equality, promoting family friendliness, addiction prevention and many other social issues.
The meetings of the Social Affairs Committee take place in the Council Chamber in the Town Hall on Peter-Plümpe-Platz and are open to the public with a few exceptions. Members of the public are welcome to attend!
