On July 1, 2025, Lukas Arntz will take over as Head of the Urban Development and Building Regulations Department of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer. The city council officially appointed him to this position yesterday. Born in the Lower Rhine region, he brings sound specialist knowledge, extensive professional experience and a clear commitment to the further development of the city to the Lower Rhine.

"I'm really looking forward to my new role in Kevelaer - not just professionally, but also personally," says Lukas Arntz. "As a native of the Lower Rhine region, the development of the region and Kevelaer in particular is very close to my heart. I would like to use my experience to contribute to the sustainable and future-oriented development of the city - in dialog with the administration, politicians and citizens."
Professional expertise, practical experience
The 31-year-old currently works as a district framework planner for the city of Witten, where he coordinates complex urban development projects as part of urban renewal. He previously worked for a planning office in Dortmund in the areas of urban planning and urban development. His academic and administrative training - a master's degree in spatial planning and a completed traineeship in urban planning - provides a strong foundation for his new management role.

In Kevelaer, Lukas Arntz will be responsible for key future issues such as urban planning, mobility and climate protection. He will continue to shape ongoing projects strategically and creatively. In doing so, it is important to him to cleverly combine complex requirements - for a city worth living in with a view to future generations.
